The Tang Soo Do Martial Arts Society was founded in 2002 with the Independent Instructor in mind as a means to provide quality education and continued growth within the Korean Martial Arts. No limitations are placed on members and they are free to teach and run their school as they choose without dictation. Our belief is unity in diversity! While standing strong in the traditions of Tang Soo Do, members are free to incorporate benefits of other systems into their training and this is welcomed into our brotherhood. There are many fine Independent Martial Arts organizations to choose from who recognize a multitude of various styles and systems, however, the Tang Soo Do Martial Arts Society allows diversity while standing strong on tradition. We have a strong past and strong lineage to preserve at the same time we understand that constant and neverending improvement comes through exploring other possibilities and welcoming change.

TSDMAS built on a dream!
The Tang Soo Do Martial Arts Society was built on a dream that all Tang Soo Do brothers and sisters could have a place to learn and advance without the high cost and politics of the big federations, but still have the direct link to a strong past and strong lineage. Members could truly find freedom and independence to continue growth and advance within this great martial art. To form a society strong and independent! Well my dear friends it's Independence Day! The dream is now a reality and this dream has expanded to include members of any style or system. Special thanks to Bill Hamel, my friend and brother in the arts for his inspiration.
The Tang Soo Do Martial Arts Society Pledge!
To allow members the freedom to explore new horizons without placing limitations on them. To encourage members to explore "out of the box" new techniques from other great systems that will enhance their own training and teaching. To be a home base of support and guidance to members. To offer advancement in rank so our members can grow and achieve new higher levels of education and learning through a strong traditional Tang Soo Do organization. We will never tell you what color belts to use or how to run your school. And this is achieved through the understanding of the meaning of Tang Soo Do..China hand way.
